You have to be careful to identify what the problem is here as it can be two different parts that may need replacing. Now when the lines appear on your screen, simply plug the laptop into an external monitor. If the lines show up on the external monitor, then it is your graphics chip at fault. If not then it’s your screen.

You can repair both problems simply by replacing the damaged part. If it is the graphics chip, it is generally recommended to replace the motherboard rather then re-ball the GPU chip. It is known to be a much more permanent repair.
